Small Business Leads: Should You Outsource Lead Generation?


Small businesses tend to be over-ambitious with their approach which can cause more harm than good. As a small business, it can be hard to focus on numerous business processes at once. Take a small law firm for example, while they may have expertise in legal matters, you can’t expect them to be expert at generating small business leads. They would be lucky if one of the lawyers knows a thing or two about lead generation and takes the reign, but that doesn’t happen often.

Which is why outsourcing lead generation may be the best option for small businesses. It allows them to stay focused on their expertise while also ensuring that small business leads are taken care of by experts. 

For startup businesses, it may be difficult to not have control of a process such as lead generation. After all, it determines the revenue of the business so you want to ensure you put as much effort into it as possible. But at the same time, if you don’t have expertise in the process, you will end up jeopardizing your business. So it would be smarter to outsource it but carefully pick the provider you opt with. 

So when it comes down to deciding whether or not to outsource lead generation for your small business, all you need to do is ask the following question:

  1. Do you have the resources for lead generation, time, personnel, and money?
  2. Do you have the expertise required?
  3. Will spending time on lead generation take away from your other processes?
  4. Can you generate more leads in-house than through outsourcing?


If you do plan on outsourcing, think of it as an investment. One in which you are likely to get more of a return than taking up the task on your own without expertise or resources.
